The Kindergarten Lies!

I really think there should be a new diagnosis for most kindergarteners called "The Kindergarten Lies". My sister told me that all her boys went through a stage of lying during kindergarten and Jaed has contracted this disease as well. It's not just that he lies but he lies for the stupidest reasons. Here's an example:

Thayne went to pick Jaed up from school and Jaed had this round sore on his forehead. Thayne asked him what happened and Jaed started this huge story about some kid who pushed him down in P.E. and he got into big trouble and had to got to the Principal's office and they had to call his parents....blah blah blah. Thayne thought it sounded a bit much for just pushing Jaed down but didn't question it until he pulled out the daily progress sheet from Jaed's teacher. On the sheet, Jaed's teacher wrote that Jaed was rubbing his forehead on the carpet and got a rug burn! WHAT!?! She said that she explained to Jaed that the sore is from the carpet and that he probably shouldn't keep doing it. Can you believe that? So there was no kid that pushed him at P.E., not kid that had to go to the office, and no kid that had to be picked up from his parents! Thayne and I just shook our heads in complete confusion on why the lie was told in the first place. We did have a talk with him and tried our best to explain that lying is wrong, but who knows if it sank in. This is just one example of many stories we've heard since he's started kindergarten. I really hope it is a stage!

On another note, Jaed came home from school last week with a tooth missing. He said that he lost it at lunch but he couldn't find it. Jaed told us that he had the lunch ladies sweep but they still couldn't find it. We told him that he could write a letter to the Tooth Fairy explaining what happened and hope that she believes him! So here is the note that he wrote:

(Here's what it says in case you can't read it: "I lost my toth in the cafeteri. I sre (sorry)." The Tooth Fairy did believe him and left a dollar under his pillow.)

Oh yes, the kindergarten lies!!! That is too funny, and thankfully, yes, it IS just a stage.
