School presentation

Josie and Indi were in a school presentation a couple of weeks ago. They didn't have any major parts but they looked pretty on the stage and sang great when it was time to sing!

Here's Josie standing with everyone else. She was so excited to be there and couldn't wait to sing!

Josie is singing her heart out! She couldn't remember all the words so they let her have a cheat sheet.

Here's Indi sitting patiently for her turn to sing.

Indi is getting ready to perform. I swear she was the best behave child up there!

Switched Rooms

We decided to give Josie her own room again since we keep finding her in the bathroom with her toys because that is the only place she can play without be bothered by her siblings. We found a bed and some other things to go in her room just for her. She also decided to put "rules" on the wall for anyone who is invited in her room. I took a picture of them:

(No hurting people)

(No girls or boys under 5 coming into my room. Notice the pictures she drew of Kaia, Zoey and Chase with an X over them. Chase is a friend of Kaia's.)

(No being naughty)

(No being bossy)

So now Indi shares a room with Kaia and Zoey and they all sleep in the same bed. It's a full bed and they all sleep side ways. It's pretty dang cute. Here they are:

Soccer has come and gone!

We signed Kaia and Indiya up for soccer this spring and I am happy to say it's over. It's tough having two kids in the same sport at the same time. Thayne was able to coach both teams because the sport director was so happy to have him that she made sure the girls games were one right after the other which was nice.

This was Kaia's first soccer season and will definitely be her last. She just isn't aggressive of competitive enough. She was more excited to twirl, skip and hold hands with the other girl on her team that I think she kicked the ball only a handful of times and I'm not sure how many of those time were actually on purpose! If you ask her, she had a great time but I think we'll find something else for her to do. It drove me insane cuz I'm a competitive person and telling her to run and kick the ball did nothing. I think ballet, gymnastics or even swimming are more up her alley. Here's pics of Kaia and her team:

(Here she is doing a little side step dance move while her team is running around trying to get the ball.)

(Here she is hanging with dad, her coach, while he's trying to get the rest of the team to score.)

(And here's her team! I think the coach is dang cute!)

Now Indiya is just the opposite. She scores at least one goal every game and she's a go getter. She loves playing soccer and is pretty good at it. She's got the competitive streak in her, like her mom and dad! If she gets hurt and wipes out, she jumps back up and keeps going towards the ball. She's a blast to watch and cheer on as she takes off from the group with the ball and makes a goal. Thayne said he had a blast coaching her team! Here's some pics of Indi and her team:

(Here's Indi right before the game starts.)

Swimming with Grandpa

Thayne's parents came to visit us and one of the great activities, when they are here, is to go swimming at their hotel. The kids have a blast.....and I think Grandpa does to:

(Everyone is trying to get to Grandpa so they can hang on.)

(Grandpa carried Zoey and Kaia A LOT while swimming.)

(Kai loved to hold on to the edge and just swim around the pool.)

(I snap this shot right when Indi came up from being under water.)

(Jaed is giving Josie a ride around the pool.)

(Zoey loved to get out of the pool and jump to Grandpa.)

(Here's everyone when it was time to get out. It's never long enough time to swim!)

The hunt is on....

We had an Easter egg hunt after church and the kids were so excited. Here's a few pics of the kids searching HIGH and LOW for all the eggs:

KAIA:

INDIYA:

JOSETTE:

JAEDON: (ok, well after I got pics of the girls I looked around for Jaed and he had finished finding his eggs so this was the only picture I got of him. He was the speedy one in the egg hunt!)

Easter Dresses

I finished the girl's Easter dresses about an hour before church. I am such a procrastinator! I bought the shirts at Walmart for $1 and then cut them off and made the rest of the dress. You can't tell in the picture but there are green leaves and green pocka-dots.....so the it really does match! :)

I decided they needed something to put in their hair so I made the hair thingies (not sure what to call them). Everything turned out better than I hoped!

Thayne's parents bought Jaed a new suit so we he got to wear it for Easter. He looks so handsome!! Aren't they just a great looking bunch?!!!

Easter eggs

So Thayne and I have never colored eggs with the kids before because we just didn't want to deal with the mess. Well, since we had family in town for Easter, we had to give in and color eggs for the first time. The kids were in heaven, while we were trying to minimize the mess. We colored 6 dozen (I know, maybe a little much for our first time!) and were extremely relieved to have it done and the kitchen cleaned. I was so nervous that the kids would get the dye on their clothes that I almost made them color the eggs in their underwear but decided that it probably would have been inappropriate to take pictures of the event if they weren't clothed. So, I opted for pajamas instead of being nude!

Here's Kai coloring her egg with a crayon before rolling it in the dye.

Little Zoey was very serious about drawing on her egg. Every egg had to have a scribble.

I made Thayne sit between the two youngest to make sure there were no eggs thrown, dye spilled and crayon markings on the table and wall. He did his job great!!

Here's Jaed, Indi and Josie having a blast with their creativity.

Rocking to Exhaustion

I kept thinking that the older Zofiya got the less rocking she would do but that's not true. She loves to throw herself backwards on the couch over and over. She does it when she's happy and she does it when she is upset. Hearing a constant *THUD* is a normal sound in our house because we all know that it's Zoey slamming her body to the back of the couch over and over.

Sometime we hear it and then all of a sudden we don't and this is usually the reason we don't hear it anymore:

She had fallen asleep on the way down from throwing her body against the couch!

Indiya lost a tooth

Indi has been very slow in losing her teeth so you can imagine her delight when one of her front teeth became loose. It took about a week of constant wiggling to get it ready to pull. I do the ole' Jim Burwell (my dad) style and tie a string around the tooth and yank. It took two yanks (most of the time it only takes one) and popped out. Hardly any blood at all!!!

(I hope it doesn't take another year for the other tooth to come out!)

(At the rate she's going, she'll be 16 before all her adult teeth are in!)

Conference Day!!

Now that our kids are getting older we decided to invite (ok, make them) watch conference with us. But, because I'm such a cool mom, I had fun things for them to do while we watched. I gave the oldest three a packet of fun papers (puzzles, coloring pages, mazes, etc.) and the youngest two I gave a notebook and crayons to entertain them. On top of that I had five buckets and put a different word on each bucket and filled the buckets with candy. So, everytime they heard a word that was on one of the buckets, they got to have a piece of candy!

It was a hit! The two hours flew by quite fast and they paid attention the WHOLE time!!

(Here they are listening very closely for any one of the 5 words on the buckets. Zoey quickly learned that as soon as one of her siblings dipped in the bucket, she could to. The limit was one candy at a time......well that meant one fist full at a time for her! Um.....nice picture of our dog licking himself. Sorry about that!)

(Here's the buckets! Halfway through I took them back to the kitchen and switched the candy around so that they got a different kind for each word.)
